What to Include in Your Request
To help us locate the records you are seeking, please provide as much detail as possible, including:
- A description of the records you are requesting
- Relevant dates or date ranges
- Names of individuals, businesses, or organizations involved, if applicable
- Any identifying information that may help us locate the records
- Your preferred method of receiving the records
Please be as specific as possible when describing the records you are requesting. Specific requests help the Commission identify and locate responsive records more efficiently.
What Happens After a Request Is Submitted?
The Anna-Jonesboro Water Commission will review and respond to FOIA requests in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.
For most requests, Illinois law provides a response within 5 business days after receipt of the request. Certain types of requests may be subject to different procedures or response periods under the Act.
A response may include the requested records, records with legally exempt information redacted, a written denial identifying the applicable exemption, or a request for clarification or additional information.
Fees
Applicable fees for copies of public records will be assessed in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act and applicable Commission policies.
Records That May Be Exempt
While Illinois FOIA provides broad access to public records, certain records or portions of records may be exempt from disclosure under the Act. When applicable, exempt information may be withheld or redacted.
Important Information
FOIA provides access to existing public records. It does not require the Commission to create a new record, conduct research, answer questions, or provide information that is not contained in an existing public record.
